The TFSI and TDI engines
Seven engines, one principle: less fuel consumption and more power. Compared to the predecessor model, fuel consumption has been reduced by up to 21 percent while power was increased by up to 25 percent.
The Audi A4 Avant is available in a total of seven different engine variants: three TFSI and four TDI engines. All have one declared aim: To improve performance while lowering fuel consumption.
The TFSI engines
The A4 Avant comes with the 2.0 TFSI. This is available in two versions: in the top version it delivers 185 kW (252 hp) and 370 Nm of torque. The Audi A4 Avant reaches 100 km/h in 6.0 seconds and reaches an electronically limited speed of 250 km/h. The second option emits 140 kW (190 hp). Its torque is 320 Nm. In just 7.5 seconds the Audi A4 Avant sprints from 0 to 100 km/h with a top speed of 240 km/h.
The TDI engines
The TDI engines start with the 2.0 TDI in two performance variants: 110 kW (150 hp) with 320 Nm of torque and 140 kW (190 hp) with 400 Nm of torque.
Even at 110 kW, the driving performance is powerful. From a standing position, the Audi A4 Avant reaches the 100 km/h mark in 9.0 seconds and picks up speed up to 213 km/h.
With 140 kW, the Audi A4 Avant sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and goes up to 231 km/h.
The six-cylinder 3.0 TDI is also available in two versions: 160 kW (218 hp) and 200 kW (272 hp). The latter accelerates the Audi A4 Avant in just 5.4 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h and further up to 250 km/h top speed.
The engine options are combined with various transmission solutions: Regardless if it’s a manual gearbox, S tronic or tiptronic, front or quattro drive – a tailored solution is provided for each engine type.
Seven-speed S tronic
The new seven-speed S tronic transmission impresses with its high degree of efficiency. The friction was reduced even more, the weight was lowered, and the oil supply was designed to be even more efficient – thus enabling very low values at engine idling speed. The two multi-plate clutches are arranged axially one behind the other, which reduces the drag torque and improves efficiency. The seven‑speed S tronic is available for all engines except for the top TDI model. It will enter series production for the 3.0 TDI with 160 kW.
The eight-speed tiptronic is reserved for the 3.0 TDI with a power of 200 kW (272 HP). The smooth, fast and spontaneously switching automatic transmission was also completely redesigned. A new speed-adaptive damper ensures that the powerful V6 Diesel engine can run smoothly even at only 850 1/min. The design of the gear sets and shift elements ensures low drag torques and therefore a high degree of efficiency.
The quattro® all-wheel drive
The quattro drive stands for dynamic handling, traction and driving safety. The self-locking centre differential is used to provide an optimal distribution of the drive torques between the front and rear axles depending on the driving status, road characteristics and driver type. Driving enjoyment and safety are combined on an entirely new level.
The driving dynamics
The Audi A4 Avant is the perfect companion – both on winding road sections and on long-distance routes. Audi drive select ensures that the driving dynamics can be adjusted individually to each situation. It influences the characteristic curves of the servo-assistance and accelerator pedal as well as the optional controlled suspension systems. In this way, you are supremely safe on the road, both on fast motorway trips and on meandering country roads.
